We All Blunder

I am in awe about how challenging our personal emotions can be. Referring to one of the world’s finest footballers Cristiano Ronaldo, who is renowned for his discipline and his incredible work ethic After the whole drama at Manchester United, he is now in emotional turmoil about his national team after being subbed off in the last group match. It is very easy when seated on a couch to make remarks about his behaviour. But if we think deeper, he must be facing very tough inside emotions. He is most disciplined putting in long hours of training, nutrition etc, if he could I believe he would also be disciplined about his outbursts. In my opinion, this reminds us that in life and football, the mind and our emotions are the toughest job there is to do. It is easier to train physically for hours than to hold our emotions for seconds.  Wrong behaviour needs to be corrected but tolerance is key because we all might blunder from time to time.

Speaking of togetherness, we must remember to adapt. We do not go into an organisation thinking it is about me, we go into it thinking it is about us. It is not a solo sport and unless we can serve others, we can be no good for the organisation or football. May we all bring our best quality to this game. Our differences mixed with the right intentions can contribute to us, us as a collective work in progress. All of us at Santa Lucia football club, this is us now . The main objective is to have a true support system more than just be another football club. We are all responsible for this support system, each of us. I take ...

Can we ever move forward? Not before we attend to this…

Through this article my intention is to reach out to people from all backgrounds and tell about football in  Malta. As you read along I will try to explain how I feel about local football and how it impacts the nation. In the midst of chaos and the pandemic, this is the best time for critical thinking about the situation of local football. We must start focusing on the following values because I believe that laws, regulations and control are not enough to take us where we want to go. This is an island that loves the game of football but I feel we are missing crucial points when discussing changes and improvements. Trust We must start by creating a better football environment. I would start with the word trust . A highly experienced sports psychologist in England Dan Abraham came up with 3 questions that pass through each individual’s mind while working within an organisation. Do you care about me? Can you help me? And can I trust you? The selling product of football is emotion...
